About learn-and-earn
Learn and earn crypto programs pay you in tokens for watching short lessons and passing a quiz. Coinbase Earn was the most famous version, but Coinbase shut it down on May 27, 2025. The model survived elsewhere: Binance, CoinMarketCap, KuCoin, and Bybit still run campaigns, though most exclude US users.
How learn-and-earn actually work
An exchange or token project funds a small marketing budget and splits it across thousands of learners. You watch a video or read a lesson about a coin, take a 3-to-6 question quiz, and the platform credits a voucher when you pass. Rewards usually range from $1 to $20 per quiz and need a verified KYC account.
How to get started
- 1Pick a program that still operates in your country and finish KYC on that exchange.
- 2Open the Learn & Earn page and choose a quiz that is in progress.
- 3Watch the short lesson or read the article it links to.
- 4Pass the quiz, then check the Reward Center for your voucher within 48 hours.
Pros
- You earn real crypto without depositing money or trading.
- Quizzes are short โ usually 5 minutes per lesson.
- You actually learn something about the token before holding it.
Watch out for
- Most live programs (Binance global, CoinMarketCap) block US users.
- Rewards are capped โ Binance often limits each quiz to the first 5,000 finishers.
- Vouchers expire fast, sometimes in 14 days, if you do not claim them.
Common questions
Is Coinbase Learn and Earn still active?
No โ Coinbase discontinued Learning Rewards on May 27, 2025, per its own Help Center. The page now tells former users to try staking instead. Old quiz links no longer pay out.
Which learn and earn crypto programs still work in 2026?
Binance Learn & Earn, CoinMarketCap Learn & Earn, KuCoin Learn & Earn, and Bybit's Learn & Trade Growth Hub all still run campaigns in 2026. Each requires KYC and most exclude US users. Kraken Learn is education only โ it pays nothing.
Can US residents use learn and earn programs?
Most live programs block US residents. CoinMarketCap explicitly lists the US and its territories as excluded. Binance.US does not run the same quizzes as global Binance, and KuCoin and Bybit restrict US accounts in practice.
How much can you actually earn from learn and earn quizzes?
Most quizzes pay between $1 and $20 in token vouchers, and many cap participants at the first 5,000 finishers. A realistic ceiling is $20 to $50 across all live programs in a given month. It is not a job โ it is a small bonus for learning.
Are learn and earn rewards taxable?
Yes โ in the US the IRS treats free crypto rewards as ordinary income at the fair market value on the day you receive them. You then owe capital gains on any change in value when you sell. Keep a record of each voucher and its USD value.
Does Coinbase give free crypto?
No, not any more. Coinbase discontinued its Learning Rewards program on May 27, 2025. That page now directs users to try staking instead. Coinbase no longer pays users to complete educational quizzes as of that date.
Does Binance give free crypto?
Yes โ Binance runs a Learn & Earn program with rotating monthly campaigns on Binance.com. Past campaigns have included BTC-focused quizzes. The program is not available to US residents on Binance.US, which does not run the same curriculum. Binance.com campaigns cap the number of finishers, so early entry matters.
Does Kraken give free crypto?
No โ Kraken has an educational section called Kraken Learn, but it is educational-only and does not pay users to complete lessons. To earn on Kraken you need to trade or stake, both of which require depositing funds first.
Does Coinbase give free crypto on sign-up?
No โ Coinbase's sign-up bonus is a referral reward that requires a qualifying purchase, not a no-deposit gift. The separate Learning Rewards program was discontinued on May 27, 2025. New Coinbase users can earn through staking, but that requires depositing crypto and is not a free reward.
