Educational only, not financial advice. The timeline assumes today's BTC price for every future buy.
Bitcoin's price moves every day. If it rises, each fixed-money buy gets fewer sats and the goal takes longer. If it falls, you reach the goal sooner. Exchange fees and spreads are not included. Stacking in sats (a faucet, tips or rewards) is not affected by price.
How Long It Takes to Stack 1 Million Sats
Reaching 1,000,000 sats at $10 a week takes 84 weekly buys, or 588 days (about 19.3 months). That is $840 spent in total at a bitcoin price of $83,633 (Coinbase, 12 October 2026). At that price, each $10 purchase buys about 11,957 sats, and the finished goal of 1,000,000 satoshis (0.01 BTC) is worth about $836.
The Sats Stacking Calculator turns recurring purchases or faucet claims into a clear timeline. One bitcoin equals 100,000,000 satoshis, the smallest unit of bitcoin. You can check what 1 million sats is worth in dollars at today's rates, or see how many sats a dollar buys right now before setting your purchase schedule.
How to Use the Calculator
Start by filling in the AMOUNT PER BUY field with your recurring purchase size. Use the currency selector to choose USD, EUR, GBP, INR, AUD, CAD, or sats. If you select sats as your unit, a SHOW MONEY IN selector appears so you can still track the fiat equivalent of your goal.
Next, choose your frequency under HOW OFTEN by selecting Every day, Every week, Every 2 weeks, or Every month. Enter any satoshis you already hold in SATS YOU ALREADY HAVE. Finally, select YOUR GOAL from the preset options of 100,000 sats, 1,000,000 sats (0.01 BTC), 10,000,000 sats (0.1 BTC), 100,000,000 sats (1 BTC), or choose Custom amount to type your own target. The calculator updates TIME TO GOAL, SATS PER BUY, and GOAL WORTH TODAY instantly, and you can copy the summary sentence with the Copy button.
How the Math Works
The calculator pulls the live bitcoin rate from CoinGecko, or from public exchange rates at Coinbase if CoinGecko does not respond. If neither source connects, the status line displays "Live price unavailable" and uses estimate rates. When you buy in fiat currency, the sats received each period follow this formula:
sats per buy = (money per buy ÷ BTC price) × 100,000,000
The calculator determines the total purchases required by subtracting your existing balance and rounding up to the next full purchase:
buys needed = (goal sats − sats you already have) ÷ sats per buy
To find the duration, the calculator multiplies the purchases by the days in your chosen cycle:
time to goal = buys needed × days between buys
The schedule uses fixed day lengths: Every day uses 1 day, Every week uses 7 days, Every 2 weeks uses 14 days, and Every month uses 30.44 days (calculated as 365.25 ÷ 12).
For example, take a target of 1,000,000 sats with 0 sats saved, buying $10 Every week at a bitcoin price of $83,633:
($10 ÷ $83,633) × 100,000,000 = 11,957 sats per buy
1,000,000 sats ÷ 11,957 sats = 83.63 buys, rounded up to 84 buys
84 buys × 7 days = 588 days (19.3 months)
84 buys × $10 = $840 total spent
When the Answer Is Wrong for You
The Sats Stacking Calculator assumes the bitcoin price stays fixed at today's rate across every purchase. In practice, bitcoin's price changes daily. If the price increases, your fixed dollar allocation buys fewer satoshis, which extends your timeline. If the price falls, your fixed dollar amount buys more satoshis, and you reach your target faster.
The math also leaves out exchange fees and trading spreads, so enter your buy amount after your exchange's fee in AMOUNT PER BUY. The timeline stays fixed only if you stack sats directly through rewards or faucets (see ways to earn free bitcoin). Common Questions
What does stack sats mean?
Stacking sats is slang among bitcoin users for steadily accumulating small amounts of bitcoin over time. Instead of measuring progress in whole bitcoin units, users count their balance in satoshis. A single bitcoin divides into 100,000,000 satoshis.
How do you stack sats?
You stack sats by setting up recurring purchases of bitcoin or by collecting satoshis through rewards, tips, and faucets. You can convert values at any point using our sats to dollars converter on the homepage.
How long does it take to stack 1 million sats?
At a bitcoin price of $83,633, putting $10 toward bitcoin every week takes 84 weeks (588 days, or roughly 19.3 months) to reach 1,000,000 sats from zero. Each $10 purchase secures about 11,957 sats, resulting in $840 spent overall. A bigger buy, more frequent buys or a lower bitcoin price shortens the timeline.
Does the calculator include exchange fees?
No, the calculator does not include exchange fees or purchase spreads. It calculates satoshis strictly using the market rate reported by CoinGecko or Coinbase, so enter your buy amount after your exchange's fee in AMOUNT PER BUY.
What happens to my timeline if the bitcoin price goes up?
If the bitcoin price goes up, a fixed fiat purchase buys fewer satoshis, meaning you need more buys to reach your goal. Conversely, if the price drops, each purchase acquires more sats and shortens your wait. If you earn or stack fixed amounts denominated in sats rather than fiat currency, price shifts do not change your timeline.
