About revolut crypto fees

Revolut prices crypto trading differently from a typical exchange — instead of one maker/taker schedule, your fee depends on which paid plan tier you're subscribed to (Standard, Plus, Premium, Metal, or Ultra) and how much crypto volume you've traded in the last 30 days. Free Standard accounts pay the highest rate; the paid tiers layer in progressively lower fees on top of the monthly subscription cost. Revolut also runs a separate product, Revolut X, with conventional maker/taker pricing for more active traders. This page breaks down what each tier actually costs.

How it works

Revolut's main app charges a percentage fee on each crypto buy or sell, and that percentage depends on two things: your subscription plan and your rolling 30-day crypto trading volume. Standard and Plus accounts pay the highest ladder — roughly 1.49% on the lowest volume band, stepping down through several bands to about 0.49% above £250k in 30-day volume. Premium and Metal accounts get a materially cheaper ladder — around 0.99% down to 0.29% at the same volume bands. Ultra, Revolut's top tier, starts around 0.49% and can reach 0% at the highest volume band. Standard and Plus accounts also carry a monthly fair-usage exchange limit — beyond it, an extra fair-usage fee applies on top of the normal trading fee; Premium, Metal, and Ultra remove that limit entirely. Separately, Revolut X is a standalone trading product with conventional 0% maker / a small taker fee, aimed at more active traders who want order-book pricing instead of the plan-tier ladder.

How to pay less

  1. 1Check your current tier and fee under Crypto → More → Limits and Fees in the app before assuming a rate.
  2. 2If you trade more than occasionally, compare the paid plan's subscription cost against the fee savings — Premium and Metal roughly halve the Standard/Plus trading fee.
  3. 3Stay aware of the Standard/Plus monthly fair-usage exchange limit — trading beyond it adds a fee on top of the normal rate.
  4. 4For frequent, larger trades, compare Revolut X's flat maker/taker pricing against your plan-tier percentage — it can be cheaper at volume.

Pros

  • Occasional traders on Standard pay no monthly subscription at all — only the per-trade percentage.
  • Premium and Metal plans roughly halve the trading fee versus Standard/Plus at every volume band.
  • Revolut X offers conventional, low maker/taker pricing for active traders who outgrow the plan-tier ladder.

Watch out for

  • Standard and Plus users pay one of the highest headline crypto fees of any mainstream app — roughly 1.49% on typical trade sizes.
  • The fee ladder depends on both plan AND volume, so the same trade can cost a very different amount depending on your subscription.
  • Standard and Plus also cap monthly exchange volume before an extra fair-usage fee kicks in — Premium, Metal, and Ultra remove that cap.

Common questions

How much does Revolut charge for crypto trades?

It depends on your plan and your 30-day trading volume. Standard and Plus accounts pay roughly 1.49% at the lowest volume band, stepping down toward 0.49% above £250k. Premium and Metal pay roughly 0.99% down to 0.29% across the same bands. Ultra starts around 0.49% and can reach 0% at the top volume band. Check Crypto → More → Limits and Fees in the app for your exact current tier.

Is a paid Revolut plan worth it just to lower crypto fees?

It depends on how much you trade. Premium and Metal cut the trading fee to roughly a third to a half of the Standard/Plus rate — the subscription pays for itself once your monthly trading volume is large enough that the fee savings exceed the plan cost. For occasional small trades, Standard's free subscription with the higher percentage is usually still cheaper overall.

What is the Standard/Plus fair usage limit?

Standard and Plus accounts get a monthly crypto exchange limit before an extra fair-usage fee applies on top of the normal trading fee — Standard's limit is lower, Plus's is higher. Premium, Metal, and Ultra remove this limit entirely. If you trade crypto regularly, hitting the fair-usage fee on Standard or Plus is a sign it may be cheaper to upgrade.

What is Revolut X and is it cheaper?

Revolut X is Revolut's separate, more advanced trading product with conventional order-book pricing — 0% maker and a small taker fee — instead of the plan-tier percentage the main app charges. For active or larger traders, Revolut X's flat structure is usually cheaper than even the Premium or Metal plan-tier rate; for occasional small trades, the difference is negligible.

Does Revolut charge a fee to withdraw crypto?

Yes — Revolut charges a flat service fee to withdraw crypto off the app: roughly £1 (or local-currency equivalent) for a short list of assets including XRP, XLM, DOT, SOL, AVAX, XTZ, ALGO, and ADA, and roughly £3 for everything else, including Bitcoin and Ethereum — plus the underlying network fee for the chain you withdraw on.
